Representative Engagements

  • Developing Leaders for Growth and Sustainability: A leader in the home health care industry, with a highly entrepreneurial culture, sought to implement a standard operating model in its 140 offices across 18 U.S. cities and the UK. Kathleen and the Liberty team worked with the CEO, the Chief Learning Officer and the Chief Nursing Officer to design and implement a series of leadership development interventions. The desired outcome of these interventions was to build internal leadership capacity necessary for growth, and manage change while sustaining the cultural norms so essential to past success. Programmatic responses included Leading Change, Leader as Trainer, Giving and Receiving Actionable Feedback, Transition to Director and Leading a Culture of Growth. Kathleen and the Liberty team also worked closely with clinical leaders in developing themselves as leaders and clinicians to meet the challenges of unprecedented growth and complexity in the home health care industry. The outcomes of this ongoing leadership development initiative include significant savings in the implementation of the a new operating model, successful retention of critical staff in a period of deep change and a profound influence on the culture of the organization through creating common language and expectations for the leader population.
  • Agile and Innovative Response to Change: The Knowledge Management division of a Big 5 management consulting firm needed to quickly restructure and align itself to support unprecedented growth at the height of the ERP wave. Kathleen worked with the partners and their staffs to design an organizational structure which was conducive to responding quickly and coherently to requests for thought leadership and tools, thus giving the firm a decided strategic advantage in a highly competitive market. Kathleen also designed and delivered a series of training experiences for the staff to sustain the organizational learning and create a common language relative to leadership in the organization. One of the outcomes of this initiative was that the lead partners of the Knowledge Management division earned the respect and confidence of their line colleagues and became integral partners in developing business and setting strategy in the firm.
  • Executive Coaching: Kathleen served as executive coach for the newly appointed CEO of a pharmaceutical professional services firm. Kathleen created a strong coaching partnership with her client through thoughtful and illuminating questioning; unwavering focus on the first 90 days of his tenure, actively listening to assist in navigating the complexities of his new role and articulating observations and insights directly, eloquently, and without judgment. As a result, this new CEO completed a highly successful transition into his role, validated by feedback from staff, his Executive Team and Board of Directors. Kathleen also influenced the shift to a more transparent and engaged leadership model throughout the organization, which assisted in the successful implementation of a contingency revenue plan during an unprecedented economic downturn.
